"Corinne + Bob Marley"

March 22, 2015 7 Comments

I'm super excited to be starting my very first blog today. It's a new way for me to share a deeper, more intimate glimpse of my life as an artist (I prefer the term "Creative Expressionist", actually). Thank you so much for checking it out!

Okay, Here we go...

Recently, I was contacted by my friends, and amazing photographers, Dan + Amelia, (to see their work: http://www.ameliaanddan.com/ ), regarding their beautiful daughter - Corinne. Her birthday was quickly approaching and they wanted to gift her something "EXTRA SPECIAL", so they turned to me for help. The couple hired me to create a one-of-a kind painting inspired by her love of "Bob Marley", and his music. Now, If you know anything about me, then you know reggae is my favorite type of music! Makes sense considering I'm Rastafarian :). I remember talking the idea over with Dan, and in my head all I could think was, "You had me at cute little girl + Bob Marley (who just so happens to be one of my biggest inspirations too!)."

They gave me a little backdrop on Corinne's affinity for Mr. Marley. It was there that I learned her dad "MUST" sing her a Bob Marley tune every night before bed.

Side note: What a wonderful family tradition! I get sappy about beautiful behaviors, that strengthen bonds between parent and child; I see them a holy encounters. I digress, back to the story...

So that was the basis for my work. The Hale's gave me "Carte Blanche", fully trusting my ability, and vision, to create a magical piece of art for Corinne. Whenever I take a commission, they instantly become my top priority, all other work gets suspended so I can be totally present with the task at hand.

And this is what I came up with!!!

Here's another view...

Three Little Birds...

Special Delivery to Ms. Corinne! I think all children are magical, couldn't tell it by that face though :)

Smiles ALL around that day. So GREAT meeting Ms. Corinne. I'm humbled to have been able to paint an image that reflects her in such an important way. I truly feel this creation will be passed down from generation to generation.

What a great way to use a God given talent, bringing smiles to little children's faces (and hearts). I'm love what I do!

I'd be honored to hear your thoughts around this painting, and around this post, in general.

If you'd like me to produce a personalized, one-of-a-kind commission for you, or a beloved family member, let's talk! I even offer "Payment Installments" as a way to work with those on a tight budget. So feel free to contact me directly to learn more at: faristudiosart@gmail.com. I read, and reply, to every single correspondence I receive. Thank you.

Be Well, Keep Creating ~ Ras
